Activities for everyone this winter

Shawnee County Parks and Recreation has scheduled various activities to keep you busy through the winter months.

Auburn Dance:
Sign your young performer up for awesome dance instruction at Auburn Community Center, 121 W 11th Street, Auburn. Phoebe Shrenk has over 14 years experience in dance and ballet. Classes will meet on Wednesday evenings beginning Feb. 1 through March 7. Fee is $25. Call 862-1630 for a supply list.
Ages 2-3 – 5:30-6 p.m.
Ages 4-5 – 6:15-6:45 p.m.
Ages 6-8 – 7:00-7:45 p.m.

Open Gym:
Auburn Community Center is offering the community a chance to use the gym. Basketballs and dodge balls provided. Come, hang out! Open for all community members … walkers, runners, seniors, children, all ages & abilities! It’s free and the doors will be open from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday evenings.

USD 437 After School Programs:
Farley & Wanamaker Elementary School: Beginning Ice Skating on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 30-Feb. 1. Fee is $25.

Auburn Elementary School: Archery Lessons, Tuesday through Friday, Feb. 7-10. Fee is $30.

Staff will transport your student from school to the designated activity location. Parents can pick up their student at the facility. For more details, call 785.862.1630.

ZumbAtomic:
Jay Shideler Elementary School Gym is the site for this fitness class designed for kids ages 5-10. It’s a dynamic cardio dance class filled with Latin and international rhythms, easy to follow moves and a whole lot of fun! It develops coordination, balance, memory and creativity. Kindergarten teacher Daphne Smryl instructs. The class will meet on Thursdays from 5-5:45pm beginning Feb. 2 through March 1 (no class on Feb. 16). The fee is $20.
